Having previously been an Avon Beauty Advisor, I thought I knew a thing or two about makeup and how to apply it to get the look I wanted, well then I started to really care about what products I put in and ON my body, and how they affected me, which prompted my switch from regular makeup and personal care products, to the more natural alternatives, like Mineral Makeup and natural, homemade soaps.

Let me tell you, if you’ve ever tried mineral makeup before then you know what I mean when I say that it is NOTHING like regular makeup, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, then you’re going to wind up looking like a clown. With mineral makeup the old saying “less is more” is DEFINITELY true. If you are new to

First things first, before you try applying ANYTHING to your face, make sure your skin is freshly cleaned and that you have applied your favorite moisturizer (if needed). Mineral makeup is lightweight and needs your natural oils to adhere to, so if your skin is too dry, the look you are going to get is going to be more like cake flour than makeup! After you have gotten your  moisturizer on, get your foundation and kabuki brush ready.

Once you have everything ready and you are prepared to begin applying your makeup, you will want to start by sprinkling just a little bit of foundation powder into the cap of your foundation container. This is to help prevent your brush from picking up too much of the makeup as it is much easier to add more than it is to try and take it off once you have applied it.

Swirl your brush in the foundation you sprinkled into the cap and then use your finger to tap the brush lightly so that any large pieces of the foundation fall back into the cap. You just want a LIGHT dusting of powder to be on your brush when you apply it to your face.

Now begin to apply in a circular motion, on your cheek, near your nose, moving out towards your ear, apply to each side, and then across your forehead, nose and chin. If you need more, then continue to apply in even layers until you have achieved the desired coverage (Note: our line of Discount Mineral Makeup contains 3 coverage types: Sheer, for those who need very light coverage; Satin, for those who need medium coverage; and Matte, for those who need heavy coverage).

After you have applied your foundation, you may still have some problem areas, blemishes, etc. A common problem for me are dark areas under my eyes. This can be fixed by simply dipping your finger in the leftover foundation powder in the cap and rubbing gently onto the areas that need further coverage.

Play around with it, and over time you will become a master at applying your own mineral foundation with amazing coverage that will last all day!

People always ask me what inspired me to open my resale and consignment store, Twice Loved Boutique. Well, it’s quite simple. I had too much stuff. Stuff in my attic, stuff in my closet, stuff in my kids dressers, you name it!

I started out selling my excess “stuff” on eBay, and when that started to take off, I looked for other places to get things to sell, and began to build a large inventory of things to sell in my attic (kind of the opposite of what I was trying to do in the first place… started cleaning it out, and wound up filling it up!).

After having a change of heart about selling on eBay, my husband and I began talking and decided that he would clean the garage out and convert it to a store front for me. This was in February of 2008. On May 31, 2008, Twice Loved Boutique had its official Grand Opening.

I have always wanted to be self employed. After years of trying different direct sales companies, drop shipping, you name it, I have finally found something that works for me!

Growing up, my father had his own business doing small engine repair, and my grandfather was the Manager of a local Gardening and Livestock Feed store, I think that by seeing this while growing up, it kind of inspired me to NOT want to work for someone else. I just never understood the concept of working hard my whole life to make someone else rich.

On top of all that, I have kids, and stressful as it may be at times, it has always been my top priority to raise them myself, not hire someone else to do it in my absence.

So there you have it, my reasons and inspirations for opening Twice Loved Boutique, where I provide people with high quality gently used clothing, shoes & accessories, discount mineral makeup, and much more!
